It's been quite a year

In a phone conversation last night, a friend said "wow, you have really had a horrible year." I thought woah, wait, huh, no...I've had a great year. I guess things lately have been less than rosey and that has tainted what was arguably one of the best years of my life. To turn that attitude around, I decided to look back on what I did in 2007...

I got over the worst heartbreak of my life.

I took a last-minute girl trip to L.A.

I went through a family scare and the sadness of the VA Tech shootings.

I finished law school.

I spent a week at the beach with good law school friends.

I attempted to quit blogging (lasted a week).

After an emotional day and a heartfelt blogpost, I was contacted by the family of a deceased Marine.

I entered a new decade of my life.

I took the Virginia Bar Exam.

I ventured off to travel around the world in six weeks.

I began a new career at a job that I love.

I found out that I passed the Virginia Bar Exam.

I got through some health issues.

And of course I had experiences and friendships that were in my life and my heart but never made it onto WonL (as it should be). Tomorrow is really 2008. Not sure what next year will bring, but I sure am looking forward to it.

I hope each and every one of my friends and readers is able to look back on your own year with the realization and appreciation that your experiences are a part of you. Cheers to the memories, both good and bad, of 2007 and those yet to come in 2008. See you next year!!!

Holiday reflections

Five days at Disney with the family...very different as an adult...disappointed by an old friend...so much love for my nieces...Ann Marie is me...Jessie cuddles up on my chest...family interactions give me insight into myself...

Return home to work...wow, DC is home now...I love my job...send holiday cards to my business contacts...sing in the hallways...they appreciate my spirit...gifts for my secretary...she will get through this...I love my job...

Lawyerly wine-tasting Friday...bonding with co-workers...trip to Cowgirl Creamery...happy hour with school buddies...thoughts wander in directions I don't want...just walk away...safer...

LS-BFF weekend...time to re-charge...you complete me...mucho sangria and a shark of a waiter...nix depressing conversation...new favorite bar...I'm fun in a sassy hat...smooched by a secret serviceman...

Ice skating in the city...lunch at the museum...truly enjoying the company...Viking football with a good buddy...realize how much I miss my friends...holiday baking...the southern gal that can't master pralines...

Christmas Eve dinner with the Italian family...presents and homemade Lemoncello...they make me Santa...the whole family together...late night movie...sofa-cuddling with the cousins...

Wake up Christmas day to work...so sick of the Second Amendment...holiday baking and wine with a good friend...amazing how connections are made...reflecting on scary life changes...how hard are you willing to fight?...walk away but always look back...only one single Merry Christmas call from back home...out of sight out of mind I guess...I don't even realize it...what used to hurt doesn't hurt anymore...

Good friends...time with myself...pushing away thoughts of last year...no regrets...better off now...lucky to have the ability to pick and chose people in my life...so many great people around...reflect at the end of the day...Christmas 2007 was all I could have wished for and then some.

Hope yours was wonderful!

We love our football!

This is priceless!

I, personally, am working on a super-important brief due the following day. Perhaps I should notify my team that I will be unavailable the evening before.

I am alive

Sorry for the absence guys, I went on a pre-Christmas vacation and completely forgot to update the health status before my departure.

I am
still battling this post-op infection. For those keeping track, we are at 3.5 weeks now. Still on antibiotics, still have a scar-tissue-infection bump on my jaw, bump is still pressing on the nerve which means I still have no feeling in my bottom lip or chin. Good times. On the flip-side, I am eating normal foods and I am able to consume alcohol again so I guess life is getting somewhat back to normal.

Next up...A trip to Disneyworld from the eyes of an adult!
